AASB Graduate intern program - Previous interns

Adrian Murray (2001)

Adrian Murray

Adrian completed his Honours year specialising in Accounting at The University of Melbourne. His Honours thesis investigated the pricing behaviour of specialist auditors, specifically in response to traditional constructs of risk. Prior to taking up the Graduate Intern position, Adrian worked as a:

  • Tutor, The University of Melbourne (2000) (Intermediate Financial Accounting, Intermediate Managerial Accounting).

During the internship, Adrian worked on a range of projects, including the harmonisation of Public Sector Accounting Standards and Government Finance Statistics of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, a fair value/deprival value comparison and intangible assets. Adrian also participated in a number of academic research projects, including an assessment of stock market efficiency in response to half-yearly financial reports (post-earnings announcement drift).

Adrian developed a keen interest in accounting and corporate governance issues during his internship and has chosen to continue working at the AASB on a part-time basis, while completing a law degree at The University of Melbourne.

Adrian intends to pursue a career in the legal profession upon completion of his studies and feels that the AASB Graduate Internship has provided an excellent grounding upon which to build such a career.
