AASB Graduate intern program - Previous interns

Steven Lindsay (2003)

Steven Lindsay

Steven completed his Honours year at the University of Queensland in 2002, majoring in Accounting and Finance. Prior to taking up the Graduate Internship position in January 2003, his background included:

  • Tutor, Financial Accounting, The University of Queensland (2002)
  • Trainee Analyst at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (2002)

Steven’s Honours thesis examined the relationship between disclosure regulation and analysts’ forecasts in Australia and the US. In particular, his thesis examined whether analysts’ forecast properties change in response to changes in disclosure regulation, and whether the Australian continuous disclosure model outperforms US quarterly reporting in the provision of information to analysts.

At the AASB Steven worked on a range of projects. These included parent-entity reporting, share-based payments, foreign currency transactions and accounting for leases. Upon completion of his Graduate Internship, Steven relocated to Sydney to take up a position with Ernst & Young, where he has been able to utilise the experience he gained whilst at the AASB by dividing his time between their Technical Accounting Group and Transaction Support group. The technical accounting group provides accounting advice to EY's audit group and external clients, while the transaction support group focuses on IPO forecast reviews and acquisition due diligence. Steven is completing both the CA and CFA programs.
