AASB seeking an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager

Secondments are an option and salary negotiable

Are you ready to take the next step in your career and influence global and Australian financial reporting requirements? Is technical accounting analysis and research your strength? Join the AASB, a leading national standard setter, as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager and make your mark in financial reporting. 

The AASB’s mission is to develop principles-based accounting standards for Australia that meet user needs and contribute to the development of international accounting standards. You could be part of achieving that mission by playing an important role in researching financial reporting issues,  presenting them to AASB members and liaising with international and other national standard setters.

Skills and experience

  1. Between three and five years of experience employed in financial reporting or financial report auditing. Technical experience would be well regarded.
  2. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including presenting at public forums.
  3. Well-developed research and analytical skills.
  4. Ability to work under limited direction to meet agreed objectives and balance a variety of competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  5. Capable of becoming a topical expert, and be able to relate that expertise to work on other projects.
  6. Commitment to knowledge sharing and coaching.

Personal attributes

  1. Able to work effectively with other people, to take direction, to cope with constructive criticism and to provide same. 
  2. Able to gain the confidence of the members and fellow staff of the AASB, and of external parties.
  3. Committed to the objectives and processes of the AASB and to the ideals of standard setting in the public interest.

Qualifications

  1. A member, or eligible to be a member, of a recognised accounting body.
  2. Well performed academically. Honours and post graduate degrees well regarded.
