Call for Expression of Interest (Phase 2) - 2021 AASB Research Forum

The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) is now accepting Phase 2 expressions of interest from academics who wish to participate in the 2021 AASB Research Forum.

The AASB Research Forum is our annual event where academic research in relation to financial reporting is presented before an audience of key industry stakeholders. The forum consists of three presenting academic research teams, a panel of industry executives who provide live feedback and discussions, and questions from the audience. Through these academic research teams, we aim to bring emerging financial reporting topics to the forefront of the industry and open them up for discussion and consideration by the AASB. Ultimately, this allows us to amend current standards or create future ones that reflect the evolving challenges faced by both the public and private sectors.

The AASB is specifically interested in research topics in the following areas:

Transaction neutrality–implication for the Not-for-profit sector

Post implementation reviews for

  • AASB 9 Financial Instruments
  • AASB 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers
  • AASB 17 Insurance Contracts
  • AASB 1049 Whole of Government and General Government Sector Financial Reporting
  • AASB 1056 Superannuation Entities

Researchers will also benefit from the AASB’s publication relationship with academic journals including Accounting and Finance, which has published studies from previous research forums, and the Australian Accounting Review.
