The AASB, in collaboration with CPA Australia and CA ANZ, is hosting a Dialogue Series session titled Valuation in Financial Reporting: Art or Science? on 27 June 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm AEST.
Do we measure value? Do we estimate value? What does value even mean? Financial reporting routinely employs different measurement bases and techniques as it wrestles with the challenges of measurement uncertainty. Relevant and reliable information for investors is a clear objective. The burning question is how to achieve that objective in the face of demands for more reporting on intangibles, sustainability and risk/forward-looking information, particularly in a dynamic and increasingly uncertain, data-driven, AI-enabled world. Professor Michael Davern (The University of Melbourne) will share his insights.
Board members and staff of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) will also provide their perspectives, including an update on their recent work. This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring:
