Our condolences to the family and friends of Peter Gibson, who sadly passed away over the weekend.

As well as the deep respect in which Peter was held throughout the profession and the public service, he was always a strong and reliable advocate for the AASB and high-quality standard setting. Since stepping off the Board, we had continued to work with Peter in his role at the Department of Finance, where he continued his immense support for us. When he stepped down off the Board after serving the maximum of three terms, we acknowledged that his wealth of knowledge and experience was unique and impossible to replace. Those sentiments apply even more so now.

It is quite the understatement to say that Peter will be very much missed.
