The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) is responsible for delivering accounting and sustainability reporting standards that promote consistency, comparability, and transparency and contribute to stakeholder confidence in Australia’s economy.
We have an opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Climate Specialist to join our Sustainability Reporting team to support the implementation of AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise on climate issues to assist with implementation and other standard-setting activities including stakeholder engagement.
- Create a bridge between climate-related subject matter (e.g. climate science and emissions-related matters) and provide advice on their intersection with the standard-setting environment.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders to stay informed about implementation issues, trends, and research to support the AASB’s implementation-related activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 10+ years’ relevant practical experience in climate science, policy or practice
- Knowledge and experience with climate-related practices, including identifying physical and transition risks, climate scenario analysis, and transition planning
- Strong understanding of greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement and reporting frameworks, such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme
- Highly familiar with international and domestic climate policies and reporting practices
- Highly developed communication skills and proven ability to communicate complex issues to a wide range of audiences
- Advanced qualification in a relevant sustainability or scientific field
