Emily is a senior communication practitioner with over 20 years’ experience developing and delivering strategic communication programmes for a broad range of policy and regulatory matters, with a particular emphasis on economic and finance policy areas.
Most recently, as Head of Communication and Engagement with the New Zealand External Reporting Board, Emily is credited with revitalising the organisations external profile and engagement approach alongside delivery of a multi-year programme of engagement and consultation with the finance sector on climate reporting.
Prior to this, Emily held senior roles with the New Zealand Treasury where she developed communication strategies to support functions across the Treasury. A Key highlight includes developing investor engagement strategies (domestic and international) for New Zealand Debt Management to support a significantly increased Government borrowing programme during the COVID-19 pandemic. Emily was also responsible for establishment of the net-zero carbon initiative, New Zealand Green Investment Finance Ltd, the Venture Capital Fund - ‘ElevateNZ’.
Her keen interest in the power of information to inform decision making led Emily to work on a number of data-related initiatives including; the LINZ Data Service, the Charities Register and the seminal work on data sharing between Government and the private sector with the Zealand Data Futures Forum.
Emily credits her broad knowledge of communicating effectively across diverse sectors and stakeholder groups (often on a shoestring budget), to her early career working in the Not-for-Profit sector which includes the New Zealand Family Planning Association and Victim Support.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her two (adult) sons, gardening, yoga and endless renovation projects.
